ABOUT THE DEVELOPMENT SQUAD & HISTORY

We are proud to offer our youngest players their introduction to football through our long established Development Squads. Since 2016 South Woodham Ferrers United have worked with children of ages 3-6 years old to help them develop their basic football skills as they start their football journey with the club.

Run by our FA qualified coaches, these weekly 1 hour sessions are very popular and provide a clear pathway into a SWFU team. The sessions run on a Saturday, 9-10am at the South Woodham Ferrers Leisure Centre on the 3G pitch and cost just £2.50 a week (see additional details below for the full Club Woody Membership).

OUR OBJECTIVES & AIMS

Our sessions provide the children with a safe environment for them to develop their football, social and communication skills, alongside making memorable experiences and new friends. The children participate in a range of fun on-the-ball games, basic skills and small sided games. The sessions are available to boys and girls of all abilities, aged from 3-6 years old (Pre-school to Year 1).

We aim to provide fun sessions through play in the 3-5 years age group, while the 5-6 year old (year 1) group build on their previously learned skills with more technical focussed football training as they prepare to form teams ready for the Under 7 leagues.
